So much government narrative is now about changing the way people behave rather than providing them with what they need (representing and serving them). The government has become a nanny in almost everything it does and says.

The government exacerbates the pressures on society through its foolish policies (e.g. open borders 1997-2010, green taxes, poor resource planning, etc.) and then expects the public to change in order to militate the inevitable consequences. All of this is rooted in exactly the same kind of persuasive and manipulative techniques that were employed in Communist Chinese run POW camps during the Korean War. Hyperbole? No. Check it out. Julia Middleton and her Common Purpose doctrine (which almost the whole of our political and public sector hegemony have bought into) believe in a post-democratic age where “leaders” manipulate social change towards undemocratically established objectives by “leading beyond authority”. The cumulative techniques they use exactly mirror the techniques employed by Chinese communists in the 1950′s, whether intentionally or otherwise.

Personally I don’t want to be controlled, propagandised or nagged by government and especially by local government. I want them largely out of my life but serving my needs through proper representation which is why I vote and pay taxes. Proper representation should not be a top down imposed ideology of social change for our own good, whether or not a few MPs set examples of the behaviour model they envisage. MPs are there – or should be there – to represent the views of their constituents – not the loudest lobbying agenda. Currently the conversation is one way – our views are largely ignored but we get a lot of telling us what to do and how we should do it.

We are not cattle to be herded and goaded. We are people and our society should be allowed to evolve not manipulated for the convenience of politicians. Somewhere along the way, between Major and Cameron, they have lost the democratic and parliamentary plot to become like a politburo, the guardians of a rather hidebound ideology that they all conform to but have not bothered to ask us if we actually want. Of course successive governments, aided by that appalling propaganda agency the BBC, have done a very good job of dumbing down and infantilising the population so that they are more amenable to nanny, even look to nanny for guidance and control in all aspects of their lives.

But I don’t care for any of it and I expect I am not alone.

Justine Greening was a promising Treasury minister – she was “promoted” (AKA given a hobby ministry).
Hammond is a forensic, details man and was an excellent shadow Chief Secretary – send him off to sort out the defence farrago !
Laws is a bit of a snide, but a very competent Treasury minister – leave him in the wilderness to rot !

And Cameron tells us that financial consolidation is the number one priority.
Must be why he’s filled the Treasury with second-raters and toadies.

I endured this a second time. These Minsiters talk about things like videoconferencing and remote working as if they have just been invented. Gosh it must be hard to be taken seriously when your mind is stuck in the 1950s.

@TrevorsDen “Get a life you sad sad so sad gits.” Leaving aside the lack of punctuation, getting a life would be wonderful. Trouble is, the government won’t leave me alone so I can just get on with one. The previous one told me how I could spend my spare time, what I should eat, how much exercise I should take, etc, etc, and this one appears to be carrying on where they left off.

Are these four (Greening, Baker, Penning, Maude) volunteering for the axe? They should be because wasting money on this sort of nonsense is why people are sick of Westminster and Whitehall……..

Let’s bring back those “Is your journey really necessary?” adverts from the war. They’d beat remoding any day of the week….

This is clearly based on ‘2012’ – even to the glorious deadpan voiceover, and the po-faced ‘Minister’ – speaking about getting out of ‘routine’ was it? – avoiding the HoP Drinking Holes perhaps?

No, but it’s unusual to complain, the leaders you complain about have been very successful in shutting down the debate. And helped along their way by journalists who should know better.
