Funny how you thought it OK to pass judgement on those private remarks, even though he couldn’t have known he was being recorded. Nobody put Brown’s microphone on him without his knowledge.

I think both incidents reflect badly on the politicians.

Hmmm, given how recently Brown has taken to actually talking to real people, a lot of the public may well have never seem him actually do it before. As such, I genuinely think that’ll be the most damaging bit of this whole gaffe – that this clip will be shown again and again, and (aside from his car-comments) it’ll mean everyone with a TV set and a news channel will see him actually talking to someone in his bizarre, wooden way. I was cringing far more when he was talking to her face to face than at what he said in the car.

Like he’s some wacky magician of the council finishing a magic trick where he just appeared to smash this woman’s expensive watch.
