He might lose his seat to the SNP. Who would be PM then?
Should we be unfortunate enough to have another Nu Labour ‘government’.

It is a bone-chilling prospect that Brown is half-way through a strategy which will result in him taking power for five more years. If he were to pull off a 100 seat majority in the autumn, I would rank it as the most successful piece of political strategy ever in the history of the universe. And I wouldn’t have a clue as to how he took the voters with him (unlike Blair’s three wins when few even listened to the Tories before deciding to reject them). Stephen Pollard’s article in this weeks Speccie over Campbell’s diaries is interesting in this respect. In essence, one would think Britain’s blond, Diana-worshipping electorate would recoil at Brown. But, according to today’s poll, apparently not. Campbell’s unwitting characterization of the electorate would suggest many of them are not capable of understanding what Brown has been up to as Chancellor. So, perhaps, this rather sad-looking figure deserves to be PM because he’s soooo longed for the job. Maybe that’s Cameron’s mistake. He should simply portay himself as a man who has wanted to be PM all his life and it will be oh so very sad if he fails. It beats the effort required in policy formulation.

I hope and pray the current opinion poll bounce turns out be a trap for Brown. He can be expected to recall Wilson’s shock when a predicted landslide for him turned into a majority for Heath and is likely to dither before making a further miscalculation. People like Brown always rely too much on his powers of judgement and not enough on intuition so he may well let the opportunity pass. He could find himself overtaken by events and come a dreadful cropper when his wonderful new economy fails.
