Belgium is, again, fighting the enemy within

10:47 AM

This morning, Belgium became the latest European country to have suffered a major terrorist attack. The scenes in Brussels serve as a grotesque reminder of the war that has not gone away. After the arrest of Salah Abdeslam, chief suspect over atrocities at the Bataclan centre in Paris last November, Belgian officials warned of the prospect of revenge attacks: perhaps spectacular atrocities, aiming at killing hundreds. They came four days later in Brussels airport and Metro — a demonstration of the jihadis’ ability to act quickly. And a reminder that their capacity for atrocity is far from exhausted.

After such an attack we can expect to be offered a blizzard of explanations, many of them erroneous. One commonly heard claim is that Islamist terrorism is a response to western foreign policy – yet few countries have been less active in foreign policy than Belgium. The harder truth is that Belgium’s problems, like those of its French neighbour, are primarily domestic. As the raids in Molenbeek showed, there are areas which the police and security services enter only with trepidation and where some locals are willing to give cover and shelter to known terrorists.

[Alt-Text]

As we reported in the wake of November’s Paris attacks, Belgium and France’s problems come down to an issue of mass Muslim migration and a rejection of assimilation by some of those incomers. In Belgium and France, as in the UK, the areas where Muslim populations are particularly dense are disproportionately likely to be the places from which the terrorists come. After the arrest of Abdeslam in Molenbeek there were reports of local youths attacking Belgian security forces. This was not simply because the police were in ‘their’ area, but because the authorities had taken away someone that some of them admired.

For years the Belgian authorities have been seen as a weak link in Europe’s defences. The Belgians believed, as the British security services did before 7/7, that if they allowed Islamism to gestate at home, the terrorists would spare the country that had given them sanctuary. That fallacy now lies on the scrapheap of ideas where it always belonged.

Although Belgium has particular security problems, it is important to remember that such an attack could happen anywhere. The reason there has not been a major terrorist attack in the UK for more than a decade is not because Islamists lack the will. At least half a dozen major Isis-style attacks have been thwarted in the last year in the UK alone. The fact that these attacks did not happen is a consequence of exceptional work by the British security services and because, thanks to our geography, it is harder to get munitions across the Channel than across the increasingly porous borders of what used to be the Schengen area.

The jihadi threat is evolving, and our ability to respond is — thankfully — evolving with it. But as the IRA famously said, bombers have to be lucky only once: the police need to be lucky all of the time. Britain has been lucky, but it is far from inevitable that our luck will hold.

Belgium fighting the enemy? Well that’s jolly good to hear, silly me was thinking they were just lying down before them.

That’s piss poor income for an escort.

  • 3aple

In Brussels there is a group of people who are dedicated to the overthrow of our way of life and so much we hold dear, who wish to remove our security, who want to subjugate us to their ideology and beliefs, who do not believe in democracy and who will brook no opposition.

And if that were not bad enough, there are also Islamic fundamentalists.

    .

  • Kasperlos

One major problem with Belgium is that the country is very, very corrupt, its government, police, and in general. A very corrupt country.

    • justejudexultionis

The Somalia of Europe? Islamists are drawn to such places.

    • Ozzy Guy

Ha ha…Sharia Law will soon fix that little problem…

  • justejudexultionis

The problem is Islam itself. This pernicious death cult should be pushed back into the Arabian peninsula and then eradicated entirely.

The links between Islamism and Nazism during the Second World War were strong. Read any of a number of books published on the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

They are doing it in a smarter way than the previous crowd…

How dare Douglas Murray suggest that we are not to blame for what happened. We should hang our heads in shame that we keep offending Muslims by not accepting that Mo’ geezer as the last prophet.

  • Bernard101

At this point, the media have the latest Muslim terror attacks written in advance, like the obituries when they reckon an auld geezer is going to join the majority. The ones the Guardian write are straight up howlin’ at the moon leftism, always good for a laugh. It varies from the other southpaws, blaming Bush, GOP, IDF, Jimmy Saville, Jimmy Hill, etc, etc, anything but the obvious. No civilisation has ever tolerated attacks on its people in human history, but the radical left, as bg a problem as Muslim terrorism, are dictating the debate to such an extent that we’re expected to turn the other cheek whilst medieval savages cause carnage on the streets of Christendom.

      Oh yeah that’ll help…

  • Ingmar Blessing

Very importantly, let’s state the obvious first: Nothing to do with Islam!

  • Ominous

It should be clearly obvious by now that Muslims are waging a global hybrid war against non-Muslims. Terror attacks are but one part of their strategy. Muslims are also subverting our legal system, slowly curtailing our cultural proclivities by using the political tools of multiculturalism and Islamophobia and altering party policies by leveraging the Muslim block vote. It also doesn’t help matters that the native populations of Europe are only too willing to help facilitate the Muslim hybrid war strategy by being overly deferential to every whim that emanates from Muslims.

1000 up ticks. This is the message that should be rammed home

  • Lawrence James.

In 1939-1940 the government introduced a Defence of the Realm Act which suspended certain public liberties for the duration of the war. It was temporary measure, backed by astringent penalties, which necessity demanded. We are in now in a state of war against ISIL and its European agents and so it would reasonable to treat the present crisis as ‘ a state of war’ and bring up DORA until our adversaries have been overcome.

    • Ozzy Guy

Back then ALL politicians had knackers…now very few do…least of all the men.

      • Lawrence James.

Yes: willpower together with intelligence and a determination to defeat the enemy by all means possible are now noticeably lacking. Above all, the men of 1940 had confidence and knew how to carry the country with them. And of course they were not shackled by political correctness and overrode the bleating of potential fifth columnists. The BBC was also cooperative.

“Belgium is, again, fighting the enemy within”

And the enemy within are Marxist usurpers…

The so-called ‘War on Terror’ is an operation being carried out by the Marxist co-opted governments of the West in alliance with the USSR and other Communist nations, the purpose being to (1) destroy the prominence of the West in the eyes of the world, where the West is seen (i) invading nations without cause; (ii) causing chaos around the globe; and (iii) killing over one-million civilians and boasting of torture; (2) close off non-Russian supplies of oil for export, thereby increasing the price of oil, the higher price allowing oil exporting Russia to maintain economic stability while she modernizes and increases her military forces; (3) destroy the United States Armed Forces via the never-ending ‘War on Terror’; the ultimate purpose of the aforementioned to (4) bring about the demise of the United States in the world, opening up a political void to be filled by a new pan-national entity composed of Europe and Russia (replacing the European Union), a union ‘From the Atlantic to Vladivostok’;* which will (5) see the end of NATO.

The fraudulent ‘collapse’ of the USSR (and East Bloc) couldn’t have been pulled off until both political parties in the United States (and political parties elsewhere in the West) were co-opted by Marxists,** which explains why verification of the ‘collapse’ was never undertaken by the West, such verification being (1) a natural administrative procedure (since the USSR wasn’t occupied by Western military forces); and (2) necessary for the survival of the West. Recall President Reagan’s favorite phrase, “Trust, but verify”.

It gets worse–the ‘freed’ Soviets and West also never (1) de-Communized the Soviet Armed Forces of its Communist Party officer corps, which was 90% officered by Communist Party members; and (2) arrested/de-mobilized the five million vigilantes that assisted the Soviet Union’s Ministry of the Interior and police control the populations of the cities during the period of ‘Perestroika’ (1986-1991)!

There can be no collapse of the USSR (or East Bloc nations) without…

    Verification, De-Communization and De-mobilization.

The West never verified the collapse of the USSR because no collapse occurred, since if a real collapse had occurred the West would have verified it, since the survival of the West depends on verification. Conversely, this proves that the political parties of the West were co-opted by Marxists long before the fraudulent collapse of the USSR, since the survival of the West depends on verification.

The following are two discoveries I made in April 2015 regarding the Yugoslav ‘civil wars’ and ‘collapse’ of the USSR, and what they prove about the institutions of the West…

    (I) Communist control of Yugoslavia ‘civil wars’ gone unnoticed for quarter century.

Secessionist Yugoslav Orthodox, Catholic and Muslim factions waged dirty wars against each other, neglecting to first wipe out the 9% of the population that attempted to do away with religion in Yugoslavia, proving the wars were orchestrated and controlled by the communist faction.

Murder, torture and legal discrimination of those professing religious sentiment was so intense under the Marxist regime in Belgrade, that those who professed no religious affiliation increased from less than 10% pre-1945 to a bewildering 32% by 1987…

‘Like in most former Communist countries in Central, Eastern and South‑Eastern Europe, the means and actions applied by the Yugoslav Government between 1945 and 1990 to reduce the influence of religions and religious organisations were quite effective: While there was just a tiny group of people who regarded themselves to be without a religion before the Second World War (less than 0.1% of the population), this number grew to 13% in 1953 and to 32% in 1987.’

    https://web.natur.cuni.cz/ksgrrsek/acta/2009/2009_henkel.pdf

That 9% constitutes members of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, the Marxist party that subjugated Yugoslavia from 1945 until the party’s dissolution in January 1990. Before any religious sectarian strife, first there would have been massive reprisals against the reviled Communists who implemented policies to wipe out religion in Yugoslavia. The fact that no such reprisals took place proves that the breakup of Yugoslavia, during the Yugoslav Wars (1991-2001), was manufactured and controlled by the Communists; and

(II) When Soviet citizens were liberated from up to 74 years of horrific Marxist-atheist oppression on December 26, 1991, the day the USSR officially ended, there were ZERO celebrations throughout the USSR, proving (1) the ‘collapse’ of the USSR is a strategic ruse; and (2) the political parties of the West were already co-opted by Marxists,* otherwise the USSR (and East Bloc nations) couldn’t have gotten away with the ruse.

ZERO celebrations, as the The Atlantic article inadvertently informs us…

    http://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2011/12/20-years-since-the-fall-of-the-soviet-union/100214/

Notice, however, the Kremlin staged anti-government demonstrations that took place in Russia (and other Soviet republics) in the years immediately preceding the ‘collapse’, yet ZERO celebrations after the ‘collapse’!

For more on this subject, see my blog…

    https://sites.google.com/site/deanjackson60/

    Conclusion:

The West will form new political parties where candidates are vetted for Marxist ideology, the use of the polygraph to be an important tool for such vetting. Then the West can finally liberate the globe of vanguard Communism.

** The failed socialist inspired and controlled pan-European revolutions that swept the continent in 1848(1) taught Marxists and socialists a powerful lesson, that lesson being they couldn’t win overtly,(2) so they adopted the tactic of infiltration of the West’s political parties/institutions. Because our betters don’t like to give the public too much information about just how bad the threat within really is. As veteran BBC journalist Hugh Sykes would say, it would “give permission for prejudice”. Can’t have that, better to keep the public in the dark so they don’t start having any unapproved thoughts.

Don’t worry everyone. It’s only a matter of time before Corbyn appears on the news, telling us that it’s Israel’s fault and that he’s really worried about Islamophobia.

    • The Masked Marvel

The BBC already beat him to it.

      • Son_of_Casandra

No doubt. They’ll probably have a ‘balanced’ interview with an Islamic nutjob, set to the background of Barabara Plett, Orla Guerin and Jeremy Al Bowen moaning softly about Israeli ‘war crimes’.

    • Ozzy Guy

I assume that Corbyn is one of your “useful idiot” politicians…however he is absolutely right.

The muslim terrorsts are doing their work because they are moron fanatics. However, the real players are the Zionists who are implementing their Kalergi Plan to destroy the nations (and whiteness) of Europe through civil unrest caused by massive muslim migration, terrorism…and retaliation.

Farfetched? Merkel won the Kalergi Prize in 2010…Soros is funding massive immigration of muslims…

      • Tom Cullem

Yes, all those decades of Muslim immigration into Europe and their failure to integrate – all the Zionists’ fault. Merkel – her real name is Merkelstein, didn’t you know? And Tony Blair, now talking about “flabby liberalism” after opening the immigration doors to four million . . . he’s actually not a Catholic, his real name is Blairstein.

Good god. As the French say, “Plus ca change, plus c’est le meme chose.”

There are only one million Jews left in Europe. There are six million Muslims in France alone. By 2050 Islam will be the dominant religious force in Europe – those silly Zionists, they just can’t seem to get it right.

When I turned on the TV and saw the latest attacks, two things popped up in my mind:

    1.Angela Merkal.

2.Politicians telling us islam is the religion of peace.

Then I made myself a cup of coffee and went on to say to myself these two things.

1.This is your fault Angela Merkal.

2.No way is islam the religion of peace.

  • Vinnie

expect a big terrorist attack in the UK as we draw closer to the referendum

    • Tom Cullem

It is my belief that the security services throughout Europe have known for some time that the network behind the Paris attacks was far larger than originally thought. They are training in Syria and coming back from Syria, embedded with the “refugees”. Merkel, and the EU for failing to secure its external borders at least two years ago, have a great deal to answer for.
Still unknown how this will impact the referendum vote, as Project Fear continues to tell Britons that the entire universe will collapse into a Black Hole if Britain leaves the EU.

      • Conway

I suspect it will have blown a big hole in the “Britain needs to be in the EU for greater security” lie.

    • Son_of_Casandra

At least our security services are pretty competent. The Belgian police and security services are a joke on the level of Inspector Clouseau.

      • Vinnie

all these terrorists attacks are planned – we have 4.1 billion “patsies” wiling to step up for the Elite Mob.

  • lakelander

A Belgian government that was taking its responsibilities seriously would declare a state of emergency, seal off Molenbeek, go through every single property with a fine toothcomb and root out any weapons and terrorist suspects. Then, they would deport all imams arrived from abroad and close (and bulldoze) any mosques where there was the slightest evidence of radicalisation.

That would just be for starters. Then would begin a programme of forced repatriation (with some financial compensation) of individuals arrived from muslim nations in the last, say, 20 years.

After this the capital of Belgium might begin to be a little safer.

    • Ozzy Guy

Ha ha…no way. They are frozen by the thought that someone will call them RACIST…

  • Tom Cullem

The “enemy within” was brought in from without – and, thanks to Merkel and the feckless, hapless, incompetent EU, Europe is still bringing them in. The warnings of people like Walter Laqueur and Christopher Caldwell were ignored. Peter Bergen was giving analysis this morning and stated baldly that there were now at least 5,000 IS operatives fanning out across Europe who had slipped in with Syrian “refugees” and Belgium has known for some time that there were at least 95-100 being supported by networks throughout Brussels.

Every speech by every politician in response could have been pre-written: “we won’t let them win” “we must stand together” . . . we just can’t shut down our borders because business will squawk and Merkel and Juncker and the “project” might be endangered, or stop bringing in tens of thousands of Muslims every year because . . . er, what was the reason for that, again?

This calls into question the “deal” with Turkey, and refocuses the discussion on acknowledging that the world of 1973 is gone and Schengen must be shut down and that “deal” with Turkey withdrawn.

Before Europe’s relativist Achilles heel ensures its own destruction.

  • Charlie Anderson

How many more times does this have to happen before some more “proactive” measures are taken? It’s well past time for these extremists to be treated with kid gloves; they need to be identified and taken out with extreme prejudice.

    • Ozzy Guy

The real criminals are already known. They are the socialist politicians, “useful idiots”, who have been importing ludicrous numbers of muslims into the heart of Europe…and then let them fester in no-go zones without the slightest attempt to integrate.

These cretins should be held accountable for what thry have done to Europe and the U.K.

I predict a form of “Red Brigades” movement will emerge targeting these politicians directly, as was the case during the 1970’s.

      • Cyril Sneer

“I predict a form of “Red Brigades” movement will emerge targeting these politicians directly”

Hope so. For when the politicians and their families are targets then you there might be a change in the policy of suicidally importing our enemies on mass.

  • nicnac

Let’s all be thankful that the ROP is so peaceful; God help us if it ever gets violent!

  • JabbaPapa

A French journalist over at BFM-TV has just pointed out, rather lucidly, that Belgium is internally very weak, having been without a Government for 18 months (!!) ; and that she took the train out from Brussels last night, and despite the state of alert they’ve been in since Saturday and despite this being a train to Paris, there were NO security checks, NO ID checks, no nothing.

From both a British and a French POV, it just sounds completely insane.

OK, the Belgians do not have the same degree of familiarity with terrorist atrocities as the English or French, so they’re bound to be still on the upward learning curve — but in light of this, it’s hardly surprising that these barbarians established their operations base in Brussels.

  • Augustus

Yes, a Europe where heavily armed terrorists can now find safe hiding places, plot their attacks, prepare their bombs and are respected by local Muslim residents, Gaza style, indicates perfectly the perilous danger which threatens the whole of Europe.

    • trobrianders

You forgot to mention the leftist politicians who facilitate them.

      • Tom Cullem

Yes, wouldn’t this be a nice moment for Sra Gomes, leftist MEP for Portugal, to start screaming again about how Europe needs migrants and we should let them all in?

      • justejudexultionis

Like that prize tool, Jeremy Corbyn.

  • Thomas Katz

Has Cameron been on TV yet, telling us Islam is the religion of peace? It won’t rate as serious until he does!

    • Harry Pond

No, but he has told us how shocked and concerned he is. Same as his ilk have been regurgitating for decades whilst accelerating the import of millions of third world un-educated backward religious maniacs into our country.

      • WTF

He’s only concern is how it will affect the referendum if the truth be known.

        • Tom Cullem

Indeed. Look for more carefully phrased assurances that Turkey stands no chance of being let into the EU (no ifs, no buts) and that the UK will not be taking in one more migrant (no ifs, no buts) and that even if we stay in the EU he has a plan to bring down immigration (no ifs, no buts) . . . and curiously forbearing to mention that even if Turkey doesn’t get into the EU and the UK doesn’t take one more migrant . . . if we remain in the EU, all those getting their EU passports in those “other” EU countries will in five years have the right to walk in, anyway.

          You couldn’t make it up.

Yet you defend immigration and multiculturalism at every turn, characterising any and every attempt by the natives to organise themselves against it as “racist” or “extremist”, even though Islam isn’t a race at all but an expansionist religious and political system. It would make as much sense to brand their attacks on us “racist”. More so perhaps, given they have no motive other than our not belonging to their group. Never mind that the overwhelming majority of victims of Islamic violence aren’t white or European at all. This is kid’s stuff compared to what happens in northern Nigeria, for example, which scarcely gets a mention in the mass media. Not a squeak since the #bring back our girls got its 15 minutes. Can’t have stories of slavery and rampant child abuse not conforming to the PC template…

Britain has been lucky, but it is far from inevitable that our luck will hold.

So we’re depending on ‘luck’ to see us through, for the time being. The predicament we’re in wouldn’t exist if the UK really was a united society with a core of common values which virtually everyone was willing to defend.

That hasn’t been the case since the end of the Second World War. Now we’re being destroyed by internal enemies – most of them indigenous people who apologise for the enemy aliens whom they invited here.

“One commonly heard claim is that Islamist terrorism is a response to western foreign policy – yet few countries have been less active in foreign policy than Belgium.”

The tendency of Douglas Murray and other neocons to gloss over the exhaustively proven link between Western foreign policy and terrorism is really tedious. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t one for one second buy the toxic leftist narrative that our excursions abroad are the sole cause of these atrocities and as such we ‘deserve’ retributions, but majority rule in matters of conscience is inherently inflammatory and will always end in disaster.

    • WTF

Europe had a relatively short period of ‘colonization’ lets say 300-400 years at most, Islam has been waging war in its colonization of the world for 1400 years. Other than the UK perhaps, most European countries were fighting each other over the Americas, Islam was everywhere else except the Americas.

  • WTF

Its sad and grotesque but this terrorist act has probably helped if not handed victory to Brexit and Trump in the USA on a plate and that will be the only good things to come out from it.

If people didn’t need reminding before, they certainly are aware now that (a) Belgium was on high alert after capturing the Islamic Paris terrorist a few days ago, (b) There is nothing practical short of martial law that the authorities can do to prevent this happening again and again, (c) the choice left to western governments is crush home grown Islamic terrorism or give in.

This was obviously a planned attack that could be triggered to be carried out at a moments notice and the security forces due to political correctness constraints, knew nothing about it beforehand. We either dump PC and crack down hard on these jihadists or we might as well hand Europe to Islam.

Any words from Merkel and her migrant folly ?

    • Vinnie

Trump and Brexit is needed to steer civilization away from the cliff edge.

  • rockylives

I see Cameron has condemned the attacks but made absolutely no mention of the I word or the M word.

At least he didn’t say This Has Nothing To Do With Islam.

    • Callan

He will. His latest cunning plans to have his henchman scour the country to recruit ethnic minorities into the Tory fold. That “sea of white faces” that confronts him and so upsets him on entering parliament must really be getting him down, Tower Hamlets here we come.

    • The Masked Marvel

Yet. Give him time. Or maybe this is when Theresa May comes out of hiding, as that’s usually her job.

    • Son_of_Casandra

Corbyn has taken over that role and it;s only a matter of time before he blames this on Israel.

    • Tom Cullem

Watching BBC coverage, their only concern seemed to be the potential rise of Islamophobia.

      • nicnac

Totally expected. All too typical of them.

      • rockylives

Please tell me that’s not true. They’re not banging on about “Islamophobia” with the dead still lying in the streets are they?

        (I live outside the UK).

  • DYKEVISIONS

‘As the raids in Molenbeek showed, there are areas which the police and security services enter only with trepidation and where some locals are willing to give cover and shelter to known terrorists.’

Yes, quite right: it was obvious by the reaction of the soldiers as they picked up Salah Abdeslam with guns trained on the houses/flats around and about. A complete no go zone in the ‘capital of Europe’ and mirrored in now countless Multi Culti cities…

  • trobrianders

Trump’s Wall just got 10 feet higher.

    • Tom Cullem

When Trump refereed to Brussels as a centre of terrorism, everyone got huffy and called the statement outrageous. Now he, AfD, the Sweden Democrats, etc., will all get a leg up.

  • Suriani

The picture speaks volumes; grey, ugly, English language signage, alienating. Could be anywhere. Welcome to the bureacratic heart of modern Europe. An ideal morphs into nightmare. Wake up time has arrived.
