Priti Patel, poster girl for the next generation of the Tory right, will
be a key face on the airwaves come election time. When the PM offered her a job last week, she confirmed No. 10’s hope that she is a modern voice.

After Cameron told her: ‘I’d like you to go to the Treasury, Priti’, she replied:
‘Cool, I’m totally, totally up for it.’

So much for ‘Yes, Prime Minister’.

If Boris ever becomes PM and offers Priti a job, she would be wise not to say, ‘Cool, I’m totally, totally up for it.’

It beats having to look at Gideon, so as long as she doesn’t put her foot in it I can’t see the harm.

‘Cool, I’m totally, totally up for it.’ Next you’ll be dropping the odd swearword over the airwaves, getting tattoos, and telling everyone about your favourite rap artists

    • rtj1211

Maybe she’ll get like the Tasmanian PUP representative ,who went on air saying ‘the only men I’m interested in are rich and well-hung’……

Yes, I think I preferred the old Tories. At least you knew where you stood with them.

Thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family?

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in TEXAS,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . At last: someone who truly reflects the face of the vibrant new Britain! And how privileged we are to have Priti Patel to assist in the task of dragging Britain from the abyss of the stale pale past to the sunlit uplands of prosperity and social justice whereon the Indian subcontinent rests.

you are hereby awarded the order of the brown nose, sponsored this year by the Hinduja brothers…….

  • Hegelguy

What selfish people must vote for such smug well heeled types.

  • Adam Carter

    She’s certainly a pretty girl.
But on the basis of this article she doesn’t talk like an ordinary person.
    She talks like an airhead.
Maybe she should just be used for photo ops, standing just behind and to the side of Cameron.
If she were to say anything like ‘Cool, I’m totally, totally up for it’ on TV she’d lose the votes of many ordinary people.

    • GraveDave

      It’s called ‘demotics’. Or plebspeak.

  • The Masked Marvel

Pop culture influences notwithstanding, will she maintain her integrity, or bow to the PC/wet blanket brigade?

  • Dan Grover

Hopefully she’s up for the campaign, too! She’s a great representative for the party, I think. The fact that she’s a woman and an ethnic minority are useful to help get rid of the idea that they’re a party that fails to represent modern society, but that’s just a background; She’s really good at interviews, always appears well briefed and, as this article suggests, talks like a regular person. *That’s* the reason I’m glad she’s going to be on TV a lot in the next few months.

    • monty61

Like Sayeeda Warsi you mean? That turned out well.

      • Dan Grover

But she *wasn’t* good at those things (she wasn’t awful either, though).

      • rtj1211

Ah, but she was ‘from the norf’. Good in theory, but ‘not sound, you know’. ‘Speaks like a tyke’. Now Essex Lady, cor blimey mate, that’s just wot we wos wantin. They ain’t voted Tory since our Mags was in charge. Couldn’t abide all those wet wussies from Major to Howard, not to mention Cameron. Our Priti would get old Bernie’s approval, which says she ‘must be one of us’…..best of all, no European genes in her……..so she can tell those hoity toity twits from across the pond to squabble amongst themselves…….

We’ll see how all that plays out in the NW, in the SW and in the NE before we declare Priti Patel Prime Minister………

        • monty61

Funnily enough I’m in the process of moving out of the South East. There are many reasons but one important one is that I’ve just had enough of the ugly accent.

The most annoying element of this is that most people affecting mockney geezer-ness are utterly phoney (though why anyone would want to make themselves sound like a chav when they aren’t is rather beyond me).

    • Kennie

      “…like a regular person.”
Do you mean that she becomes a person at fixed intervals? What is she at the times in between?

      • Dan Grover

Nope – I mean someone who’s been eating all their Fruit & Fibre!

      • rtj1211

It means she can relate to Essex Man and Essex Woman……

    • Cooper1992

Haha, isn’t it ironic that the CONSERVATIVE Party’s fascination with being seen as ‘modern’ (aka representing that hellhole London) is what will be it’s downfall when UKIP stop the liberal David Cameron from becoming PM in 2015. Bye bye Dave, and hopefully bye bye the Tory party too.

      • Dan Grover

        If you say so!

      • Bonkim

        Live in hope.

      • Chris Morriss

Remember: anyone who uses the word “cool”, isn’t.

        • GraveDave

And ‘up fer it’. Cos I bet she isn’t.

          • rtj1211

She can be up for politics without dishonouring her marriage vows, you know.

And politics is about accepting patronage gratefully right up to the point that you stick the knife into Caesar.

if you actually have to stick it to him, after all. Sometimes it can be a lot more civilised………

        • mohdanga

Didn’t ‘cool’ go out about 40 years ago, shortly after ‘groovy’??

      • GraveDave

        Like they say, Lib/Lab/CON.

    • zanzamander

And unlike some politicians, she’s not afraid to take on the mighty BBC. I believe she’s taken a fight to them for their biased coverage.

    • GraveDave

She’s a great representative for the party, I think. The fact that she’s a woman and an ethnic minority are useful to help get rid of the idea that they’re a party that fails to represent modern society,

      Tokenism you mean?

      • Dan Grover

Your ability to read ceases half way through sentences, does it?

        • GraveDave

          Say what, lad?

          • Dan Grover

Tokenism suggests that the *reasons* she was promoted were the aspects I mentioned. But the second half of my sentence that you truncated literally said “but that’s just a background,” and I concluded that “She’s really good at interviews, always appears well briefed and, as this article suggests, talks like a regular person” and established that it’s *these* reasons that are why I’m happy she’ll be on TV going forwards.

In short, no, I didn’t mean “tokenism”. When I said they were useful, that’s what I meant.

    • mohdanga

‘Modern society’ as you refer to, is still 83% white in the UK (though given the open floodgates policy of current gov’ts this won’t last long) so how does she represent this?
More diversity mumbo jumbo…..I’ve often wondered why white England/Canada/Australia/Western Europe is ‘boring, drab, uncultured’ and somehow us knuckledraggers need to be ‘enriched’ by the superior cultures from the Middle East, India and Pakistan where the populations are so happy and society so fruitful that they can’t wait to set up shop here and turn us into the same utopias they left.
Of course, if diversity is so great then their countries should be subject to multiculturalism, no?

      • Dan Grover

Who are you talking to, Mohdanga? You replied to me, but I haven’t mentioned anything about boring, drab, uncultured white people. I haven’t said other cultures are superior. I haven’t championed diversity and multiculturalism, and honestly, the state of multiculturalism in India is so far down my list of “Things I’ve ever even considered, let alone care about” that I think I’d run out of paper before I got to writing it down.

You can’t have a person that singularly represents our society – but that’s OK, because the Conservative front bench is made up of more than just one person. Only 17% of people in the UK may be from an ethnic minority, but don’t worry, plenty of the Tory front bench is still white. Roughly 50% of modern British society remains, as ever, female, and the Conservative front bench certainly doesn’t represent that, but it’s getting better.

Anyway, you seem to have fallen into the same trap as GraveDave and seemingly stopped reading half way through my post. My point was that she’s talented and a good representative for the party – the fact that she’s also a woman and an ethnic minority is a bonus, because the kinds of things that the Tories stand for – individual liberty, free markets, a strong military, the family unit as the best place to raise children etc – aren’t unique to white, British people, yet minorities overwhelmingly vote for Labour or the Lib Dems. Unless you believe that immigrants naturally prefer left wing parties because they just want free things (which is totally at odds with the number who actually have jobs), you have to conclude that it’s a matter of presentation – and if Priti Patel can help get across the message that it’s a party that doesn’t look out for rich, British white people but rather anyone who believes in those things I mentioned above, it can only be good for the party.

  • Diggery Whiggery

“After Cameron told her: ‘I’d like you to go to the Treasury, Priti’, she replied:‘Cool, I’m totally, totally up for it.”

Wow, she’s like a regular person.

    • Kennie

“Wow, she’s like a regular person”
      Are you American?

      • Diggery Whiggery

        Nope, justs sarcastic Englishman.

        • GraveDave

I think most of them missed it.

    • Cooper1992

No, a regular person would reply “F*** off Cameron you silver-spooned, liberal, Brussels-supporting, multiculturalist pillock”.

      • rtj1211

And a regular person wouldn’t have done Cameron the discourtesy of not letting him know they weren’t interested in a Government role, long before any Cabinet reshuffle was being organised……..

  • dado_trunking

We predicted this was coming didn’t we.
Yet, has she had the time to check Gidiot’s books?

In tomorrow’s edition: will Soubry let older men off the hook?

    • rtj1211

I always thought that the boss inspected your books, not the other way around…….

  • HookesLaw

Gosh Mr Steepike has got No.10 bugged.

    • Ian Walker

Surely he just listens in from his perch among the gargoyles?

      • Chris Morriss

I think that comment will be totally lost on the illiterate horde here!
