Mr S would like to draw your attention to two separate articles in the Guardian, which he passes on without so much as a smirk.

The actor and comedian Steve Coogan, told the paper in 2011 that he would never let Rupert Murdoch forget the News of the Word hacking scandal:

‘[They are hoping] there will be some big disaster or something that’ll knock it off the front pages and hopefully no one will care anymore. And I will do everything in my power [to prevent that].

‘Because I’m a more populist person and I reach a more generalised audience that goes beyond broadsheets I can help keep it in the popular imagination and I will do everything in my power to keep it in the popular imagination.’

[Alt-Text]

And here’s how Mr Coogan is using that people power today. The Guardian reports:

‘Alan Partridge will return to Sky Atlantic in a second series of Mid Morning Matters along with a “hard hitting documentary special”, the broadcaster confirmed on Tuesday.

Filming has begun on the second six-part series, written by Steve Coogan, Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons, and will be broadcast on the channel next year.

Coogan, in his Partridge guise, said: “I am both thrilled, humbled, gladdened and excited to be bringing Mid Morning Matters back to Sky Atlantic.’

Sky Atlantic, a channel owned by British Sky Broadcasting. (Parent company 20th Century Fox.)

21st Century Fox founder and CEO: Mr Rupert Murdoch.

It means that misogynist fantasists, oddly lacking in imagination are too lazy to log in, or don’t have opposable thumbs.

    SJC – a troubled ‘comedian’.
Having ‘grown up’ in Middleton (near Rochdale up to ’74 – part of Rochdale post ’74) in a Roman Catholic environment – one wonders just how ‘troubled’ a childhood he had ?!

  • Wessex Man

This tiresome, make believe comedian isn’t worth anymore effo zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • In2minds

Steve Coogan giving Russell Brand a run for his money!

“Because I’m a more populist person”

Gosh, he must vote UKIP! No, of course not, there is ‘populist’ and then there is ‘populist’. As in ‘all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others’. He is obviously the good, right-on ‘populist’ of Guardian and Wikileaks not the bad, anti-immigration, anti-EU ‘populist’ of UKIP.

Well he’s just succeeded in getting it back into the public domain hasn’t he. Seems like things are going according to plan.

I also noticed that the movie ‘Philomena’ was advertised in the Daily Mail, yet Coogan spews hate whenever he mentions the paper and it’s readers. Only too happy to get his mitts on their money – as long as they buy a ticket to go see his film. The narcissist seems not to see his own hypocrisy…

    Hypocrite!

Coogan is like some slapper of a woman who gets blind drunk on a Friday night, throws herself at a man, takes him home, rogers him all night, cooks him breakfast on Saturday morning……….and then reports him for rape at lunch-time.

The police tell her to get lost because they know she’s an ignorant slapper…..and so she goes back to the same bloke every Friday night………the bloke is so dumb he acquiesces.

Coogan is nothing but an over-indulged, egotistical child………he needs filling in.

Ah yes, that kind of mythical woman beloved of rape apologists and fantasists.

      • Mark McIntyre

Wondering why the ‘thumbs down / negative / minus votes no longer show up on these pages.
Know what tha means ? – Lizzy !

    Is Coogan hacking Disqus ?

    Second try.

I remember Anne Diamond whining to Leveson about how awful Murdoch and the Sun were. Yet she is a regular on Sky reviewing the papers. Maybe she doesn’t know who owns Sky 😉

    • Colin

So, who owns Sky, then ?

He recently also described the evils of pharmaceutical companies, how they damaged the little people, with great sanctimony and pomposity, forgetting to mention how he has probably sponsored a whole FARC battalion in Colombia.

  • Laguna Beach Fogey

Brilliant. This is obviously a long-term ploy by to infiltrate the Murdoch organisation and subvert it from within. Genius!

  • CharleyFarleyFive

Classic celebrity hypocrisy. I quite liked him when he was funny, but that seems to be a long time ago. The last time I saw him working, as opposed to ineloquently mouthing off about phone hacking, was when he ruined Tropic Thunder where he was clearly hopelessly out of his depth.

Since Partridge’s conception Coogan has been a one trick pony. His foray into the political sphere has been every bit as disastrous (and considerably more devious) as his attempts to create more than one comic persona.

  • gerronwithit

Now that is so much funnier than Steve Coogan.

    • Selohesra

Diarrhoea is funny than Steve Coogan

      • Neutrality44

Gonorrhoea is funnier than Steve Coogan.

        • Sesachili Hopkins

Placing Gonorrhoea and Steve Coogan in the same sentence is quite insulting to Gonorrhoea!

  • artemis in france

Is it possible that Coogan is so blind to his own failings that hé doesn’t recognise hypocrisy when hé is guilty of it? Although I hold no brief for Hislop, hé should be congratulated for refusing to identify with Coogan even before this latest craven behaviour came to light.
